I have 2 layers of tile on my kitchen floor and I want to rip them out and replace them with hardwood. I think I can rip out the top layer easily enough but I'm worried about the layer beneath. I don't know if the tile were set with mortar or adhesive. There's no concrete slab involved - the house has a basement. The house was built in 1986 if that helps at all. Thanks.
