Re-homing Slow worms?
I moved into a house 3 years ago + while strimming the gr I found a slow worm, last year I had 6-7 living under a large piece of ply-wood but, on lifting the same piece today have approx 20 -30 living there I also found another group of around 10 under another piece of wood. I need to cut the gr but see it is illegal to injure them + I would hate it if I did !!! My problem is how can I ensure that I don't as if I have that many that I can see how many more could I have around. As they are protected where do I stand with the law if I do mistakenly kill a one or possibly more while trying to keep my landlord + neighbours happy at the same time. If it was up to me I would be happy to turn my garden into a haven for wild life but that is not an option, also can I re-home some to family + friends to help spread them further afield, as I dont want to break to law, I know I may not sell or trade them + am not interested in that but I seem to have so many I need to do something !!!
