Why do many Americans(of the U.S.A.)call many non White Latin Americans "Spanish"?

Latin America and Spain are NOT the same,Latin America is in the western hemisphere,Spain is in Europe.There exists racial,cultural,language,religious differences!,Spain's racial population is White,Spain's culture is european based,Spain' language is Castilian Spanish,Basque,Galician,Catalan.Spain's main religion is Roman Catholic(with non American Indian or African inluenced elements).Latin America's(excluding Argentina & other Latin American countries that possess a large White population)racial population is very diverse(Whites,Blacks,American Indians,Asians,Jews,and those of mixed race).Latin America's culture is composed of European,American Indian & African cultural elements all mixed in as one.Latin America's "Spanish"possess American Indian & African words,dialects,and other influences.Latin America's religion is Roman Catholic(with American Indian & African influence mixed into it,for example in Mexico many pray to virgin Guadalupe an American Indian who represents"Virgin Mary",they celebrate Dia de los Muertos(Day of the Dead)which is an American Indian derived practice). I hope these FACTS will stop many Americans(of the USA) from calling Latin Americans "Spanish",the only TRUE Spanish are the native White Spanish people of Spain!
