Question about the Dome of the Rock...?

Why is it a source of conflict between people?And why is the scenario in which someone destroys it so feared?eg:in one movie,the imaginary destruction of this monument triggers the ascension of Antichrist and the end of days(Omega code),while in another movie-the Order-the main villain said that by destroyng it,it would start the World War III.
