Remedy for toothache?

I have yet to make an appointment for the dentist and have to find a day to go. I have tried pain relievers, holding an aspirin against the tooth/gum, novocain cream...none of it is working well. Is their any remedial pain relievers that I can use to tame this pain until I can go to the dentist?
